Gesture drawings at a friend's place

Stephanie Stine (http://storyduke.blogspot.com/) invited some people over to her house for an artistic meetup.
She put an online figure drawing site up on her HDTV and we all sketched from it.

These are all about 1 minute each. I went back and put ground planes on some of these.

The last one I doodled at home with reference. It's just okay.

Pose practice

About a month ago I did a few drawings from live action video and photo reference. I drew them as turtles, nyuk nyuk. I have since kind of abandoned the dark ink-like PS brush that I used for these. Currently trying a brush set at 50% opacity for a more pencil-y, less harsh effect. Some of these are iffy, yeah. I moved on to drawing other stuff and forgot about doing more of these... I ought to be more consistent with what I practice drawing...

More stuff I did during lectures (Spring 2012)

PMC Halloween 2012

Drew some costumed students. Traditional pencil and paper feels really good... a lot better than the slippery surface of a tablet PC (and Cintiq, too, I'm assuming.)

These drawings are a lot lighter in real life, but I upped the contrast just to make it pop. I felt that other stuff I uploaded in the past just looked too light. I'm sure there are mistakes in these drawings, and I didn't draw any ground planes... just felt like putting these out and not fussing too much.

I think Jack Frost's staff isn't accurate. The only ref. I had on hand was the costumed person (Chris Bak) in front of me. This was a pretty good costume, actually.

Stuff from months ago

^ The title says "Stuff from months ago." Can anyone read that font? Har har

Some of these I kinda like. Some are just alright.

These are from a CDA Sunday life drawing session. Hadn't stepped foot in the place for almost a year.  Everyone there seemed to be applying what they learned from classes, which was nice.

First drawing day of Heads and Hands

Hey there.

I haven't posted in a while, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been drawing.
I've been working on my portfolio (too slowly), and on boards and development for a short film that I'm making with some friends/fellow students.

I guess I've just been lazy to update, or that my goals on what to post have changed (like, I haven't posted my cafe sketches and whatnot as of late, and I've been trying to just post personal work stuff).

Well here's stuff that I did today for Don Lagerberg's Heads and Hands class.
He didn't really instruct us how to draw today.
He mainly just told us to use our own memory and current drawing skills, so that he could observe where we're all at.

I'd like to get consistent at drawing my own characters. I guess I'm always tweaking the design along the way. The first ones I did were in the middle, then I loosened up a bit and the drawings turned out a bit more appealing at least. Oh yeah, we were supposed to draw caveman, evolved future human, and child heads in there, so if you see any that look like that, then yeah.

The above images were all from memory (or be lightly referencing my own hand). Don wanted us to draw a hand for a laborer, an elderly woman, an infant, a female violinist, and a creature.

These are from having classmates pose for us.

Drawing Club: Patriot

Tried applying stuff from Rad's class to my drawings this time, and it ended up looking a bit more like the drawings of other people at Drawing Club.

Trying to crop this one...

First gesture drawings with a new technique, + more

So last time in Story Dev. for Animation class, Rad Sechrist taught us how to draw in this way that he draws that's also used by various feature animation artists. Here are some of my first attempts.

Also, here's something that I drew for a friend. I had been meaning to do a couple more, but haven't gotten around to it...
別の友達にも描いて送ろうと思ってるけどまだやってません・・・
