Cafe sketching at Downtown Disney

So uhrmmrm, went cafe sketching yesterday with Chris, Breann, and James.

Not really satisfied with this one... I've got a way to go on cafe sketching...

Yeah, I kinda like drawing defined, protruding jaws... even if one isn't present on the subject.

Self-portrait.

LA Zoo Sketchcrawl

This is from a while back.
Hrm. Ended up being more hot and sweaty and drawing people more than animals. I really need to practice drawing animals. =|
I met a bunch of cool and interesting artists (students, professionals, etc.)!
And I had fun with them and my CSUF art friends!

Afterwards, Chris Ybarra drove us (the CSUF crew) over to Little Tokyo for some sketching, artbook browsing, and ramen-eating. Then we went over to Gallery Nucleus for the Adventure Time/Edward Scissorhands Tribute openings. There, we met some of the same people who were at the zoo! It was a long and fun day. Yep.

The Pathetic Pyrokinetic Returns

The Pathetic Pyrokinetic Returns from Tung Nguyen on Vimeo.

Here's my film so far. I spent a good chunk of the semester just figuring out how to animate certain things, and figuring out the key poses and reboarding certain parts... I would like to continue working on this more, and even reanimating certain parts to include more overlapping and secondary action.

THIS SATURDAY: THE PMC FILM FESTIVAL

HEY Y'ALL.

THIS SATURDAY (MAY 14) IS THE 2011 PMC FILM FESTIVAL AT CAL STATE FULLERTON.

I know for a fact that there will be much awesome work shown, in both 2D and 3D (CG) mediums.
Some of my stuff will be in it, too.

There will also be illustrations/drawings exhibited in the "Exit Gallery."

BE THERE... *AND* BE SQUARE!

Also, parking is free on weekends, I believe.

More info here: http://pencilmileageclub.com/2011/05/07/2011pmc-film-festival/

This poster was whipped up in ~2 days by my friend and colleague James Lien.

My bomb submission for PMC Film Fest 2011

The bomb doesn't technically roll correctly, but I like the speediness by not including the frames where the fuse is behind the bomb.
Edit: video works now

These Cliffs are giving my hand a Cramp

So illustrators Cliff Cramp and Barbara Kolberg came to Forkan's class this evening.

I also want to say that Spider-Man swang by.

I like the feel of this one. The black lines and limited use of color reminds me of an 80s or 90s illustration that I've seen before, I think... I'm probably thinking of a very famous artist.

Those Dana and Larry sketches

As promised here http://tungsweblog.blogspot.com/2011/04/my-winning-pmc-drawing-challenge.html

I really should try to push these a lot more next time.
